About Me

Welcome to the Ghosts of Guyandotte blog. My name is Melissa and I am a former paranormal investigator and ghost tour owner/tour guide.

I have lived in Huntington, West Virginia for most of my life, but my heritage lies deep in the coal fields of southern West Virginia and southeastern Kentucky.

I have a deep love for local travel, photography, history, historic houses and abandoned places. The primary focus for my blog will be local abandoned, haunted, historic sites, cemeteries and my travels throughout the backroads of my home state of West Virginia, as well as Ohio and Kentucky and beyond.

I am a local history lover, and while I am no historian, I do love to research and share information about people, places and things of the past. The Appalachian region is rich with history and I enjoy digging up information to share with others as well as learning from others about the places I will feature in my writings.

I have had a long-time interest in paranormal phenomena. I was the founder of Huntington Paranormal Investigations and Research and I also organized the Haunted & Historic Guyandotte Tours. While I no longer am investigating the paranormal or giving ghost tours, I have learned so much about the history and hauntings in my little town and other nearby locations. I feel this blog is a way to continue sharing my love for local history, ghost stories and abandoned places with all of you!

Melissa
